how i got started with young living.

it all started with an image i posted to instagram in 2013. at the time, i worked for lake county. during our lunch break, a co-worker and i walked down to the pharmacy to get all of the OTC things we had run out of. i joked on the way back to the office how it looked like we had robbed the place. we had a paper bag full of loot. i was doing a photo of the day challenge on instagram and i thought, this would be hilarious. we dumped out all of our purchases onto the table + i snapped the image that would end up changing my life.

i shared that image + immediately my friends started commenting. they were telling me that there were essential oils that could help with most of the things i had bought OTC meds for. i rolled my eyes. yeah, sure there were. i quick emailed a handful of those friends and basically told them to sell me. i asked why i needed these products. they responded, quickly. let's just say, an email thread of 50 emails later and i had not only purchased my premium starter kit of oils, but i had agreed to jump into the business with them. if you know me, you know that i make a lot of quick decisions. this one, would end up paying off.

shortly after, i received my kit in the mail. i didn't even tell my best friends that i had bought it. i figured they would think i had gone all voodoo hippie on them. essential oils were not mainstream yet. i started using my oils even though i had no idea what i was doing. i was determined to learn. i was going through a divorce at the time, so i enjoyed the distraction of learning all about essential oils and young living. i had immediate success with the oils in my personal life. let's just say, lavender + lemon + peppermint were my best friends and frankincense was my main squeeze. ask me about them and i will tell you my own testimony!

i also hit the ground running with growing this as a business. i had never done anything like this before. i had never sold anything or been part of a network marketing company. thing is, i had no previous misconceptions or hangups with it. i simply dove in and didn't let those around me that thought it was a hoax bring me down. i was determined. if people made fun of me or the product, i rolled with it. that was their opinion, not mine. i have millions and millions of people that love this company and these products as much as i do. so, i keep doing my thing.

young living was my side hustle for two years. in that two years, i grew a team of over 20,000 members + my business was earning this company over a million dollars each month. i had grown in ranks with the company, reaching heights that are far beyond what i ever imagined. i traveled to the young living farms in idaho, utah and ecuador. i visited the young living academy in ecuador. this side hustle was turning my life upside down ... and it was amazing.

in the summer of 2015, i resigned from my job with lake county. it was a job that i thought i would retire from. it was a job i totally loved. it was part of who i was. however, my side hustle was growing fast. it had reached the point where it would give me the freedom of my time. time to be home and available to my kids whenever needed. this was the first milestone that felt surreal. i was able to work my young living business full time. even though some people thought i was ruining my life by quitting a good solid 9-5 job, i thought of it as a complete blessing.

that same year, i had met nick. i was swiping left on tinder in the MSP airport when i happened to come across his profile. i was returning home from a work trip + jumped on tinder because i was either related to or knew everyone within a 60 mile radius from silver bay. i swiped right on him right away and we matched. let's just say, had i never been returning from a work trip that day ... i may never have come across nick. we started talking and went on our first date a couple months later.

in 2017, my success allowed me to invite nick to move north 207 miles, quit his job and be all in with me and my boys. i am so grateful that all the decisions i made led us to that point.

nick and i were married in july of 2019. the very same work girls i started this business with were in attendance at our wedding. it's as if my life came full circle in some weird way.

i am still growing my business with young living as i still have some big goals to acheive. my team is over 30,000 members. we bring in over 1.5 million dollars in sales each month on average. business is thriving and so is my life. if i would have never made that one decision back in 2013, my life would be completely different today.

thank you, young living. this company, their products + their mission have made a world of difference in my families life.
